Welcome to Huchoosedah: SPS Native Education Department

Native Education is a referral service. We work with students, parents, teachers, principals, and SPS departments on a case by case basis to address the broad scope of needs our Native students face. We want every family to understand how to navigate the resources of the district and support all schools in understanding the unique experience Native students face interacting with our system. Our goal is to ensure all Native Students have a high quality education experience and reach the goal of graduation.

Please call or email us! We are here to help, problem solve, and inspire.

It is School Choice & Open Enrollment Time!

Seattle Public Schools students are initially assigned to a designated attendance area elementary, middle, or high school based on each student's home address. To view the attendance area schools for your address, use the Address Lookup Tool.

Students may apply for assignment to a different school (or program) through School Choice. It is not guaranteed that students will be assigned to the school (or program) of their choice; students are only guaranteed assignment to their attendance area school. Additional information about option schools, including individual GeoZone maps, is available on the School Directory webpage.  Click here to download the districtwide GeoZone map for 2017-18 opens a pdf file opens a pdf file Opens a New Window. .

To view current assignment information using the Assignment Lookup Tool, you need the student's identification number and birth date. Once a student receives a choice assignment, they are generally continued in that choice assignment through the highest grade served by that school.

Here is a video to explain things further...
