How the Olympic View PTA Supports Our School

    • Build community within the school. We host a variety of events that bring families together including the Fall Carnival, Multi-Cultural Dinner and educational events so families can meet each other and learn together.
    • Provide ways to get involved and connect with your child’s learning. This can be as easy as baking cookies for one event, volunteering in the classroom or serving on a committee to plan programming.
    • Ensure our school can pay for the things our kids need. Money contributed by families to the Olympic View PTA has helped buy equipment for our great new playground and the new computer lab in our library, and fund a school counselor to support our students and community
    • When you join PTA as a member, you join a community that believes in building partnerships between our families and our schools. We believe TOGETHER we can help our children be successful. Together we can make a difference!

    Why Join Olympic View PTA?

    • To help increase your student’s success in school. The data is clear: there is a direct correlation with parent involvement and student achievement. Joining the PTA is a great way to get involved with your child’s education.
    • To better understand the school system. Many parents see PTA as their connection between home and school, keeping them informed of school events and policies. Joining PTA allows them to work more closely with teachers and gives them better insight to activities and workings of the school.
    • To get to know other parents. Parenting is not easy—it helps to share ideas, concerns and experiences with other parents and educators in the community. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues.
    • To play a part in decisions that affect children. Because the PTA is a forum for exchanging ideas, you are encouraged to make suggestions. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
    • To be a positive volunteer role model for kids.By joining PTA, parents are showing children that they believe in education and that school is important. It also provides ways for parents and their children to volunteer together.
    • To build lasting friendships.  PTA events provide a forum to establish long-term friendships with people who have common goals.
    • Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. PTAs play an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events—all vital to a school’s success.
    • Enjoy Substantial Benefits. Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, and much more.
