Letter from Principal Bean
Dear Families,
Welcome Kindergarten Families: On Tuesday, we welcome our kindergarten students to OV for the first time. Please be prepared for heavier traffic and fewer parking spaces. Please see how you can help under the “Car Drop-Off” section below.
Kindergarten Familypalooza: Kindergarten families or any families that couldn’t join us last Wednesday, please join us for Familypalooza in the cafeteria after drop-off on Tuesday, September 8 for coffee and pastries, and to hear from me and the PTA!
Eagle Way Parade: We will have our annual Eagle Way Parade on Friday morning at 8:30. Please come cheer on the students as we walk around the block. “The Eagle Way” is our school motto. At OV, we “Take care of ourselves, each other, and our school!”
Family Connections Meetings: During early release Wednesdays this month, teachers will be having family connection meetings with all families. This is a great way for us to build strong relationships. We really want to hear from you about your hopes and dreams, the brilliance of your child, and anything else that you think is important.
Wednesday Early Release: Just a reminder that moving forward every Wednesday students get out at 1:10.
Free Breakfast/Lunch: All students are eligible for a free lunch and breakfast!
Back to School Night: On Tuesday October 6, at 6:00, we will have our annual “Back to School Night.”
Car Drop-Off
This is always our most busy/congested day of school, so please make sure you give yourself more time if you are dropping off as you might need to walk a few blocks to find a parking space. Please be considerate of our neighbors and follow our drop-off procedures.
- Do not park and walk your kid to the playground in the bus/drop-off zone. (All the red on the map below). If you park it creates a dangerous traffic jam.
- Drive-thru drop-off only on 95th street next to Collaboration Station (inside the blue circle in the map). Please do not get out of the car. Make sure your child is ready to go and leaves promptly on the passenger side of the car. (The drop off is in the section)
Volunteering: Current and prospective volunteers should follow this Volunteer Application Link and complete every step or confirm that they are current with their application.

Hubbard Homestead Sport Court Ribbon Cutting
Join us on Thursday, September 17 from 3:00–5:00 PM to celebrate the grand opening of the Kraken and One Roof Foundations newest sport court at Hubbard Homestead Park in Northgate!
Youth attendees who pre-register will participate in a free ball hockey clinic led by Seattle Kraken and Brooks Beasts athletes. All youth who pre-register will receive a brand-new street hockey stick and a pair of Brooks running shoes.
Pre-registration for the youth clinic is limited to the first 100 youth. Once capacity is reached, additional registrants will be added to a waitlist. Waitlisted youth will still receive a pair of Brooks running shoes while supplies last.
You must register by Sunday, Sept 6 – 11:59pm to guarantee your clinic spot and shoe size. Shoe style and color cannot be guaranteed.
LEGO Robotics club/team
I’m happy to announce that I will be coaching our 5th grade LEGO Robotics club/team again this fall! I’m really looking for volunteers to help this year. Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for October, November and early December. You do not have to have a child in 5th grade if you want to help. Sign-ups will be distributed soon and the team will begin meeting by the end of September on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.

IT’S TRIVIA TIME, OLYMPIC VIEW!!
Join the OVPTA for a memorable night of trivia hosted by OV Superfan Jeremy Behrens and the chance to walk away with the ultimate Olympic View bragging rights!!

- Check-in starts at 5:30 p.m.
- Trivia is 6-8 p.m.
Do you know everything there is to know about electricity? Dawson’s Creek? Ancient Greece? We don’t know what subjects Trivia Master Jeremy has planned, but you’re guaranteed a wild ride of diabolical brain teasers!!
Tickets $25 per person or $150 per team. Register as a team OR as an individual. Team names and set-ups of 1-6 people are flexible at sign-in or in advance.
This is a 21 and over event. Drinks are available for purchase from the bar. Bring your own food if you like (hint: you can distract the other teams with your amazing charcuterie board).

Hello! My name is Joyce and I’m the school counselor at Olympic View. Welcome to a new school year! We are so excited to have everyone here at Olympic View. I’d like to share some awesome resources and supports we provide. If you are in need of weekend food packs and winter coats, please fill out the forms below. If you need any additional support or resources, please reach out to me at any time at jecho@seattleschools.org. We will be sending out forms later for the Thanksgiving baskets & holiday baskets. Please feel free to reach out to me at anytime if you have any wonders or worries.

Food packs sent home with your child/ren every weekend. Please note that you will have to fill out a form for each child.

If your student is in need of a winter jacket, please fill out this form. Please note that you will have to fill out a form for each student in your family who is requesting for a jacket.

A note from Nurse Angie
Vaccines- immunizations are required for students to attend school. If your child is not current with vaccines, they risk being excluded from school in the fall.
Life Threatening Conditions– Asthma, life-threatening allergies (requiring an epi pen), and seizures are considered life-threatening conditions. It is legally required to keep all medications related to these conditions at school. If your child sees their doctor this summer, please bring them the correct medication authorization to fill out for next school year.
Dietary Requirements- Does your child have a dietary requirement that is not related to a life-threatening allergy? If your doctor fills out the Diet Prescription Form, we can be sure to have appropriate meals to meet your child’s dietary needs. Without this form, we will not be able to accommodate food sensitivities or specific requirements, such as a vegan diet.

Extra Clothing – We need clothing in our closet to help kids who need a change of clothes during the day. If you have clothing that we’ve lent your child or clothing that your children have outgrown, please consider sending them in.
Please send:
- Soft pants with elastic waistband (leggings, sweatpants, etc), sizes 5-10
- Girl-style underwear, sizes 4-10
- Boy-style underwear, sizes 4-8
- Socks
- Short and long-sleeved t-shirts, sizes XS-M
NO:
- Hard, difficult to button pants
- Large underwear (bigger than size 8-10)
- Any clothing that is very stained or has large holes
Please do not send in items other than what is requested as we do not have the staff to sort through them. Thank you!

General Information
Late Arrivals to School
If your student is late (the bell rings at 7:55 a.m.), please drop them off at the NE 95th Street entrance near the flagpole or blacktop. We now have a call box at the 95th Street entrance. After the bell rings at 7:55 a.m., all students must be signed in with office staff. The 8th Ave call box entrance will be used for staff only.
Absences
If your student will not be at school, please email the attendance email olympicview.attendance@seattleschools.org or call 202-252-5504 to let office staff know.
Early Pick Up
Parents/Guardians should come to the 95th Street security call box entrance. We are unable to call students down to the office until you arrive for pick up.
Pick Up Changes
If your student will have an alternate plan for pick up, please contact the office via email olympicview@seattleschools.org, phone 206-252-5500, Talking Points message, or a signed note with your student.
Our breakfast and lunch menus are now up on the SPS website!
Individual milk purchase (with home lunch) costs $.75

Spirit Gear: The Olympic View Spirit Wear online store is now open!
Choose from Kids, Women, and Men’s sizes. We have t-shirts, long sleeved, crewnecks and hoodies all available in many colors.
Membership strengthens the voice of our community, helps support the WA State and National PTAs, and allows you to vote on OV PTA matters, including how to spend the money we fundraise. Scholarships are available, if you need one.
For all illnesses, including COVID, please keep students home if:
- They have uncontrollable secretions from their eyes or nose
- They cannot control their cough
- Their symptoms are improving
- They are fever, diarrhea, vomit free for at least 24 hours, without the use of medication
COVID testing is no longer required.
