Overdue Books

Olympic View parents can see their students’ library book checkouts and lost book fees on the Source. We don’t charge fines for late books but do ask families to pay to replace books that are lost – this is most easily done through SchoolPay after logging in to The Source. We know mistakes happen and times are tough- let us know if replacing lost books would constitute a hardship.

We encourage older students to keep track of their checkouts by logging in to our library website! Students can browse our book collection, check to see due dates, place holds and more by visiting the Olympic View Library online. They log in with the same userIDs and passwords they use with their school-issued devices.

Library Link – The Seattle Public Library

All SPS students have free, unlimited access to one of the world’s best digital library collections through our collaboration with Seattle Public Library.

Students may use a SPL library card – however, those without a card may simply use their student number and birthdate (directions).

This is a phenomenal resource and provides your kids with books in dozens of languages, audiobooks and ebooks they can read on their iPads, notebooks or personal devices. (OV students browsing the SPL collection should set their preferences to ‘Juvenile.’)

About the Global Reading Challenge

Each year, 4th and 5th graders participating in SPL’s Global Reading Challenge during the winter in a Trivia contest based on the eight selected books. Students work together in teams to ensure that each of the books have been read by at least a couple students.
