The Eagle – Week of December 09
Letter from Principal Bean
Dear Families,
Changemaker Virtue Assembly: This month our attribute of a changemaker virtue is self-control. On Monday, we will have our virtue assembly at 8:10 and will feature our third graders.
Spirit Day: This Wednesday will be “Pajama Day.”
Tardiness: Just a reminder to really prioritize getting your child to school on time each day. Not only is there valuable learning time lost, but it also impacts regulation and a sense of belonging. Kids really thrive on routine and predictability.
Family Income Surveys: If you have not filled out your family income survey, please fill out the link: On-Line Family Income Survey
Why is this Survey Important? The Family Income Survey provides Olympic View receive essential funding for our school including the following:
- Free Breakfast and Lunch for all students
- Full-time Counselor
- Reading Interventionist Teacher
- Access to free field trips
The form is simple to fill out and confidential. The information will only be used to help your school receive funding from state and federal programs. Families with multiple students will only complete this form once. To learn more you can follow this link: District Website About Income Survey
Biking to School Reminder: For safety reasons, if you bike with your child to school, please make sure to do the following:
- When you get to the traffic circle with the crossing guards, please stop at the intersection.
- Get off the bike, walk, and follow the crossing guard’s directions
In partnership,
Mr. Bean (he/him)

Holiday Basket Fundraiser
The holidays are right around the corner! In order to support our families in need, we have started a GoFundMe to purchase gift cards for Holiday Baskets. All contributions will go directly to our Olympic View families this holiday season.
Additionally, we have started a Wish List for books and toys for ages infant to 18 years old who are receiving Holiday Baskets. If you would like to donate any additional new toys or books, please drop them off in the office. We appreciate all of the donations!
Donations are due by December 11. Thank you!
Free ice skating lessons after school Wednesdays, all grades!
The Kraken One Roof foundation has partnered with the PTA to provide free ice skating lessons for Olympic View Students!
Students will be picked up by bus immediately after school on Wednesdays, bussed to the ice rink, and provided with a 45 minute lesson. Then they will be bussed back to school for pick up.
Ice time, equipment rental, and lessons are FREE to all participants and all grades are welcome. Parents must pick their child up at 2:45 at Olympic View. We are also requiring parents to volunteer once per eight week session to help monitor things on the bus and tie up those ice skates. We will have two 8 week sessions for up to 50 kids each.
First session start on February 5, 2025.

Kraken Community Iceplex – FREE Skating – Saturday, 12/28
What better way to enjoy the upcoming holiday break than with FREE ice skating! In partnership with the Seattle Kraken, the OV PTA is proud to announce a FREE ice skating opportunity at the Kraken Community Iceplex (KCI) in Northgate on Saturday, December 28 from 1 PM to 3 PM. This event is open to the entire OV community – adults & kids!
We’ll have a check-in table setup in the main lobby where parents/guardians can fill out the waiver form to get skating wristbands for their family. There will be some skate aids available for use and a skate monitor from KCI. Kids are encouraged to bring helmets/safety gear if they have them (there will also be some helmets available for temporary use at the rink).
Please note: this is not a drop-off event – kids must be accompanied by an adult.
We hope to see you there!
