The Eagle – Week of June 9

Letter from Principal Bean

Dear Families,

Field Day an Amazing Success: As usual, Ms. Bruecher pulled off another amazing field day. Thank you so much to all the volunteers, especially Kristel Gonzales. We couldn’t have had this event without your support.

Extremely Busy Week Coming Up: There are tons of field trips this week, so make sure you have returned permission slips.

  • Wednesday: 4th Grade to Maple Leaf
  • Thursday: 1st Grade to Maple Leaf
  • Friday: 3rd Grade to Maple Leaf

2025 Graduate Walk on Thursday: We are starting a new tradition this year. On Thursday, we are inviting all high school seniors from the graduating class of 2025, who have attended Olympic View, for a “Graduate Walk”. These seniors, dressed in cap and gown, will parade through our halls as our students and staff cheer them on. We are so proud to honor this milestone!

Computer Device Return: This week students will be returning all devices. If you have any chargers, please return them.

Last Week of School Reminders:

  • Monday, January 16-Kindergarten to Maple Leaf
  • Monday, January 16-5th grade graduation at 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday, January 17-2nd grade field trip to Maple Leaf

Celebrating Pride Month at Olympic View: June is Pride Month, a special time to honor and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, their history, diversity, and the ongoing journey toward equality and acceptance. At Olympic View, we embrace this opportunity to foster a welcoming environment for everyone, where every student and staff member feels safe, valued, and free to be themselves. On January 17 we will have an OV Pride Dance/Recess in the afternoon at 1:30 PM.

Jump Start: We will have Jump Start for incoming kindergarteners on August 20 and 21. We will send out a registration link soon!

Lost and Found: Please make sure to check lost and found. All unclaimed items will be donated.

Last Day of School End Time is 1:25: The last day of school will be Wednesday, June 18. School ends at 1:25 PM, not the typical 1:10 PM.

This Week’s News

Field Day Thank you

I would like to say thank you to parent volunteers Kristel Gonzales and Chad Cabigting, and our lunch room manager Mindy for helping get volunteers, freezing otter pops and feeding our students with a special menu. I would also like to thank all our families who signed up to help support the activities and with lunch. Field Day is such a great time to both build and celebrate what a great community we have at Olympic View. I also want to thank all my colleagues who supported the students through the day. This is the 21st Field Day that I have organized.

Mahalo, Malama Pono and A Hui Hou

Thank you, take care of yourselves and until we see each other again!

Mrs. Bruecher

With the first full week of school under our belts, students are starting to share germs and become sick.

For all illnesses, including COVID, please keep students home if:

  • They have uncontrollable secretions from their eyes or nose
  • They cannot control their cough
  • Their symptoms are improving
  • They are fever, diarrhea, vomit free for at least 24 hours, without the use of medication

COVID testing is no longer required.

We will be hosting a vaccine clinic at Olympic View on October 2, where all childhood vaccines, flu and COVID vaccines will be available at no cost to you.

If you would like to take action sooner, local pharmacies and doctors’ offices have the seasonal flu shot and pediatric COVID vaccines will become available over the next couple weeks.  Adult COVID vaccines are currently available.

Please help keep our community healthy by keeping sick students home, practicing good hand washing, properly covering coughs and sneezes and maintaining vaccinations for preventable illness.

Thank you,

Nurse Angie
