The Eagle – Winter Break Edition
Letter from Principal Bean
Dear Families
I hope everyone will have a restful and rejuvenating break over this holiday season. We ended our school week with our winter assembly. Make sure to ask your kids all about it!!
Winter Break: Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 2.
Computer Devices: Although no snow is forecasted during the break, all students were given a computer/iPad home with them along with a charger. Please make sure to return both when students come back to school in the new year. This year, if schools are forced to close because of inclement weather, then we will pivot to on-line learning similar to COVID. This will prevent us from having to do make-up days in June. Preparing for Winter Weather
Report Cards: Report cards will be available on The Source, Monday December 18. The Source
Holiday Baskets: I wanted to thank our community for your generous support in making holiday baskets a success. A huge shoutout goes to Sabrina O’Brien, Jill Jeakins, and Joyce Rho for making this happen!
3rd-5th Grade Field Trip to Winter Classic Skating Rink at T-Mobile Field: Due to the outstanding behavior of our students on their field trips to the Kraken Ice Skating Complex recently, the Kraken are generously paying for an amazing field trip for all our 3-5 students. Over the winter break, the Seattle Kraken are participating in the “Winter Classic,” a National Hockey League outdoor game on New Years Day. This year it will be held in Seattle at T-Mobile Park (where the Seattle Mariners play) and the rink is going to be left up for a week after the NHL game. On Friday, January 5, the Kraken are funding 5 charter buses to come pick up the kids and take them to have a private skate on the rink. All kids will also get a free helmet.
In Partnership!

Volunteer Opportunities
Library Volunteers Wanted
Calling all volunteers! We are looking for a few parents who would be willing to volunteer in the library. Volunteers will help pick up books from classrooms, check books in, and return books to their shelves. Occasional special project may also arise throughout the year and your help would be greatly appreciated.
Eagle Pack Volunteers Needed (and bags too)
The Eagle Pack program provides weekend food bags for any family that requests one. The University Food Bank provides the food items, and volunteers pack the bags and distribute them to classrooms every week. We need volunteers to help with packing on Friday mornings from about 8:00-9:00 am. If you are able to help during this timeframe, we would be grateful for your help!
We would love to have some consistent volunteers, so if you can commit to one or more Fridays a month, that would be helpful. Feel free to drop into the lunchroom any Friday after drop off to lend a hand as well if you find yourself with some time. Questions? Contact k.linnes@gmail.com
We also need plastic and paper shopping bags (the thicker, handled ones like from Target or a grocery store). If you have extras you can donate, please drop them off in the office.
