Note from Nurse Angie: Medications, Immunizations, and Planning for Next School Year!
Happy end of the school year!
If your child has medications at school, please plan to pick them up on the last day. If you would like meds (non-controlled substances only) to be put in backpacks, you must give permission for us to do this.
Each year, all students who require medication at school need forms filled out by their healthcare providers. If a student has a life-threatening condition that requires an Epi Pen, rescue inhaler or seizure medications, it is required by law that we keep these unexpired medications at school. If your child requires more than one medication at school, a separate form needs to be filled out for each medication.
We can keep Tylenol or ibuprofen at school for your student, but you must accompany the medication (in its original bottle) with a medication authorization.
Students cannot keep medication in their backpack or on their person at school, except for an Epi Pen.
Here are the links for the medication authorization forms:
- General Medication Authorization Form
- Life-Threatening Allergy Medication Authorization Form
- Asthma Medication Authorization Form
Reminder, also, that students are required to be up to date on their childhood vaccines to be at school. If they see their healthcare provider this summer, please plan to keep these on an appropriate schedule.
Thank you so much for planning ahead and preparing for the upcoming school year during our break. I look forward to seeing your children in the fall!

Olympic View Yard Signs Coming Soon!! Want to help us design it?
The OVPTA is excited to announce that starting this fall, your yard can get an OV glow-up! Let all your neighbors know you’re part of something special, show your public school pride, and rep your OV Eagle Spirit!! Oh, by the way, we don’t have a design yet. If you want to help us out with that teeny-tiny detail, reach out to Andrea at amchaddock@gmail.com —you know she needs YOUR creative skills! The PTA Board will finalize and order the signs in early August, so reach out soon!
Wait Until 8th
There is a group of 5th grade parents who have committed to delaying getting their kids a smart phone until at least the end of 8th grade. This effort protects kids from the many negative impacts of smart phones (including social media!). When we stand together, we ensure that none of the kids feel left out.
Please read more about this and consider either officially signing the pledge and joining our group or committing to this effort on your own even if you don’t want to sign. This is for all parents, but especially those heading to middle school next year.
Reach out to Liz at lknaster@yahoo.com if you have questions.
Learn more and sign the pledge
