The Eagle – Week of January 13

Letter from Principal Bean

Dear Families,

January Attribute of a Changemaker Assembly: This month we are focusing on the idea of gratitude. On Monday morning we will have our Virtue Assembly which will feature second grade.

Spirit Day-All Colors Day: This Wednesday is spirit day. Kids are encouraged to wear as many colors as they can.

MLK Day: Next Monday (June 20) we will not have school as we will be observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This Friday, all classes will be learning all about MLK Jr. and the contributions he made to our country.

Safety Concern: Rainy Day Drop-Offs: Just another reminder that during the rainy, cold, and dark winters we have so many more cars coming to drop students off and 95th Street can get extremely congested which creates safety concerns. One of the problems is that when families take a long time to get dropped off in the drop off zone, it gets backed up into the intersection with the student crossing guards. You can help make it safer by doing the following:

  • Students should say their goodbyes before coming to a stop.
  • Students should have their backpacks in their laps.
  • Students should immediately leave on the passenger side.

If we keep the line moving, we are all safer!

Multi-Cultural Night is Coming Soon: Make sure to save this amazing event on your calendar. We will have our annual multi-cultural night on Wednesday, January 22.

In partnership,

Mr. Bean (he/him)

With the first full week of school under our belts, students are starting to share germs and become sick.

For all illnesses, including COVID, please keep students home if:

  • They have uncontrollable secretions from their eyes or nose
  • They cannot control their cough
  • Their symptoms are improving
  • They are fever, diarrhea, vomit free for at least 24 hours, without the use of medication

COVID testing is no longer required.

We will be hosting a vaccine clinic at Olympic View on October 2, where all childhood vaccines, flu and COVID vaccines will be available at no cost to you.

If you would like to take action sooner, local pharmacies and doctors’ offices have the seasonal flu shot and pediatric COVID vaccines will become available over the next couple weeks.  Adult COVID vaccines are currently available.

Please help keep our community healthy by keeping sick students home, practicing good hand washing, properly covering coughs and sneezes and maintaining vaccinations for preventable illness.
