The Eagle – Thanksgiving Break Edition

The Eagle – Thanksgiving Break Edition

Letter from Principal Bean

Dear Families,

No School This Week: I hope everyone has a relaxing break and is able to spend quality time with family and friends as we celebrate Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Day.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Parent-Teacher conferences will be held from November 20-22. Please make a priority of participating in the conferences as this is such an important opportunity to develop the home-school partnership. Not only will you be able to hear from the teacher, but the teacher will also want to hear from you as well!

Vaccine Clinic: Thanks to our amazing nurse Angie, OV will be hosting a vaccine clinic on Wednesday, November 29. This is open to any kids from 6 months to 18 years old. If you have any questions, please contact our nurse at amsterwald@seattleschools.org.

Morning Drop Off: Please do not drop off students before 7:40 because we don’t have any staff members on duty to supervise.

Family Income Surveys: So far, I only have 39 percent of families who have responded to the parent income survey. Olympic View receives lots of resources since we are a Title 1 school. Part of the way this is figured out is by families filling out this survey. It only takes a few minutes. The information will only be used to help your school receive funding from state and federal programs. Please follow this link. It is translated into Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

Family Income Survey

Movie Night: The PTA will be hosting a movie night on Friday, December 1 starting at 6:00 in the cafeteria. This is not a drop-off event, so students must come with an adult. They will be showing “Captain Underpants.”

In Partnership!

Mr. Bean (He/him)

Ms. Roosma’s Corner

This past week we had our all school attribute assembly. In this assembly we had a chance to hear from our 2nd graders.  They shared about the different types of communities and our students learned the signs for class, family, and world.  Several students from Ms. Schwab’s and Ms. Murphy’s classrooms shared about the other communities that they are a part of. We do not have a video upload for this past week as the assembly was an in person moment for the students.

For a complete collection of Ms. Roosma’s Monday Morning Messages, check out her page on our Olympic View Website: Assistant Principal Rachel Roosma

Volunteer Opportunities

Library Volunteers Wanted

Calling all volunteers!  We are looking for a few parents who would be willing to volunteer in the library. Volunteers will help pick up books from classrooms, check books in, and return books to their shelves.  Occasional special project may also arise throughout the year and your help would be greatly appreciated.

Eagle Pack Volunteers Needed (and bags too)

The Eagle Pack program provides weekend food bags for any family that requests one. The University Food Bank provides the food items, and volunteers pack the bags and distribute them to classrooms every week. We need volunteers to help with packing on Friday mornings from about 8:00-9:00 am. If you are able to help during this timeframe, we would be grateful for your help!

We would love to have some consistent volunteers, so if you can commit to one or more Fridays a month, that would be helpful. Feel free to drop into the lunchroom any Friday after drop off to lend a hand as well if you find yourself with some time. Questions? Contact k.linnes@gmail.com

We also need plastic and paper shopping bags (the thicker, handled ones like from Target or a grocery store).  If you have extras you can donate, please drop them off in the office.
