The Eagle – Week of March 18
Letter from Principal Bean
Dear Families,
Science Night: Thursday was such a fun event. The cafeteria/gym was packed. I want to give huge kudos to Sara Wichlacz for spearheading this amazing event. The legwork to get all these scientists must have been astounding.
School Budget Update: Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on last week’s budget survey. Families agreed that we needed to prioritize flexibility to add an extra teacher to support targeted intervention and to support the school’s social-emotional needs. This feedback was shared with the staff last Wednesday. We will submit our budget on Tuesday, and I will share all the details next week.
OV Musical “Imagine the Dragon” this Week: After months of practice, our young thespians are ready for the big stage! The performances will be this Friday-Sunday. For more information, see the blurb further on down the Eagle!
In Partnership!

Imagine a Dragon – The dragon is back in town! Well… not really. That’s the story a ragtag band of innkeepers makes up, desperate to draw questing heroes to the struggling Dancing Dragon Inn. Soon the inn is full of unexpected guests, from an army of princesses out to prove their bravery, to a group of overwhelmed heroes trying to hold onto their fame. But what happens if they all discover the innkeepers’ dragon story is made up? Could there be more than one way to save the day? An epic folk-rock score brings magic to this funny, heartfelt fantasy musical.

OVPTA Surplus Grants for 2023-2024!
The PTA Board decided that we can fund some surplus grants this year!
Do you have an idea that supports the OVPTA mission and goals, but you need funds to make it happen? The PTA has designated up to $20,000 to be spent on projects executed by our OV community members. That means YOU, our OV staff and our OV families, can submit a proposal for a project you’ll spearhead! In past years, these mini-grants have funded classroom books, equipment upgrades, outdoor projects, and end of year activities. We’ll be trying to prioritize projects that benefit the most OV students and have longevity, but don’t be afraid to submit a proposal for something outside-the-box! Does it make OV even more amazing than it already is? Let’s hear it! We’ll collect proposals, ask for PTA membership input, and the PTA Board will approve some (but not all) proposals each month until the end of the year, or we reach our spending limit. Find more details and fill out your proposal.
Don’t be intimidated by the proposal, it is just our process to get the information, it does not have to be a professional-looking grant! The PTA Board approved 2 surplus grants at our February Board Meeting.
Please email president@ovpta.org with questions or if you’d like to submit your proposal via paper form.
