The Eagle – Week of October 13

Letter from Principal Bean

Dear Families

Indigenous Peoples’ Day Assembly: We will have an assembly tomorrow for Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Included in the assembly will be the unveiling of our new Land Acknowledgement Mural that was created by Native American storyteller/artist Roger Fernandes and all OV students helped paint it. We have invited Mr. Fernandes back for the ceremony, and he will share a story as well! Indigenous Peoples’ Day Resources

Picture Day: Individual Picture Day will be on Tuesday, October 14. Order School Pictures

Fall Festival this Friday: Don’t forget to block out Fall Festival this Friday, October 17. The event is from 4-7. Costumes are encouraged! There is so much to enjoy…the cake walk, carnival games, the haunted house, art activities…and food (including the chili contest)!

Cake Decorating Contest: As always, the cake decorating contest is on Friday. Bring your cake to the cafeteria between 7:30 and 8:30 am.

Fall Adjustments: There was no change to the Olympic View staffing with the October enrollment adjustments.

Attendance is Important: Just a reminder about the importance of getting to school on time. It is so helpful for children’s regulation when they start the school day with their class. Please be in the class line each morning by 7:55.

In partnership,

Mr. Bean (he/him)
Principal, Olympic View

Eagle Pack Volunteers Needed (and bags too)

The Eagle Pack program provides weekend food bags for any family that requests it.  The University Food Bank provides the food items, and volunteers pack the bags and distribute them to classrooms every week.  We need volunteers to help with picking up from the Food Bank on Thursday afternoons and packing on Friday mornings from about 8:00-9:00 am. If you are able to help during this timeframe, please sign up

We would love to have some consistent volunteers, so if you can commit to one or more Fridays a month, that would be helpful. Approved volunteers can feel free to drop into the lunchroom any Friday, after drop off to lend a hand as well if you find yourself with some time.

We can always use plastic and paper shopping bags (the thicker, handled ones like from Target or a grocery store).  If you have extras you can donate, please drop them off in the office.
