Thank You to Ms. Kiki and Welcome Back Mrs. Cooper! I want to give a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Kiki who did an amazing job filling in for Mrs. Cooper who was on health leave. Mrs. Cooper will be returning to OV after the break.
Thank You Kraken: On Friday all of our 3rd-5th graders got to skate at the Kraken Iceplex. Thank you to all the parent chaperones and to Ms. Cooley for organizing the event. And thanks to the Seattle Kraken for our continued partnership!
Highly Capable Service Parent Referral Due on November 30: Beginning in January 2026, the Universal Screening process will automatically include all students in 1st and 4th grade. Students in grades 2-3 and 5-8 may still be considered for HC Services but will need to be referred to by a parent/guardian or educator. View details about the referral process.

This Week’s News
A note from Nurse Angie
- Starting on January 6, SPS will not be allowing students to come to school if they are not up to date with their childhood vaccines. If you have received notices from me or the district, please make your child an appointment to receive any required immunizations. Notify me as soon as you make your appointment so we can ensure your child is able to remain in school.
- If you need any help accessing healthcare, SPS offers free healthcare to all enrolled students. Contact Robert Eagle Staff Middle School’s Health Center to make an appointment: 206-548-5770, press option 1 to make an appointment. Their website is here with more information.
- We are seeing an uptick in viral illness at school. Please keep your child home if they are feeling unwell. This allows them to heal faster and helps stop the spread of germs in our community. Discuss at home, the importance of handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes.
As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns. Enjoy your break from the school schedule next week.

Have experience in the field of archeology or something similar?
OV Lego robotics is looking for folks who would like to chat with the team (in person or online) and help consult on our Unearthed! Innovation Project. As we prepare for the December all-city competition, we need to research a problem an archeologist might encounter in the field and work together to develop a possible solution. We are encouraged to invite experts in the field to share knowledge with us!
Please email Mx. Maiani at hapiercemaia@seattleschools.org if you are interested! We are meeting everyday for the next two weeks during 5th grade lunch/recess and Tuesdays after school on 11/18 and 12/2!
The Spring Musical is back!
3rd – 5th Grade students, you’re invited to join the musical (the show will be announced after auditions)! We will be holding group auditions and rolling right into rehearsals after Thanksgiving break.
Tuesday, December 2 and Thursday, December 4 from 3:45 – 5:30 in the cafeteria for auditions. Monday, December 8 we’ll jump right into rehearsals. Information packets are being sent home with students now. Please complete the paperwork and online form before sending your student to auditions. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Sabrina O’Brien (Producer) at sobrien519@hotmail.com or Jeremy Behrens (Director) at jeremy.r.behrens@gmail.com
Thursday After School Program help needed!
The PTA is looking for someone to help facilitate the Thursday after school program. This person will work alongside the front office and Hall of Fame to smoothly run the program. The volunteer position is only a few hours a session! Most of the work is already done. We are required to have this position filled to run our winter session so please reach out to president@ovpta.org if you are interested!
Giving Opportunities
Thanksgiving Baskets and Holiday Baskets Giving Fund
It’s that time of year that we raise money and donate gifts to families in our Olympic View community. This year the need is even greater than in previous years. All money donated will help us purchase food for Thanksgiving baskets or gift cards for holiday baskets. All gifts purchased will go directly to an Olympic View family. A big thank you to Harriet Koscho at Northgate Community Church for partnering with us for Thanksgiving baskets and the Ballard Elks for partnering with us for Holiday baskets.
Help Our 5th Graders Experience the Magic of the Olympic Peninsula!
We are raising funds to send our 5th grade class to nature camp for their end of the year trip. Last year we were funded by Washington’s Outdoor Education Grant but state funding was cut this year for that program so we are now on our own. Every bag of popcorn you buy brings them one step closer to an unforgettable experience! Delivery available direct or to your student at OV. Arrives in time for the holidays!
Please reach out to Danielle at dadam3984@gmail.com with any questions!
Volunteer Opportunities
Wonderful Wednesday Helpers
Once a month we have a lunch recess art activity that is absolutely beloved by the students. From 11:05 a.m.-11:55 p.m., we offer a small project either outside on the playlot or in the main lobby, supporting seasonal themes and exploring a variety of materials. November 19 will be our next Wonderful Wednesday, please sign-up below. Contact Cara Mattera at enrichment@ovpta.org for more Art Committee information.
Library Help
Thank you for considering volunteering in the OV Library. If this is your first time volunteering in the library, please reach out to Ms. Leland klleland@seattleschools.org to receive an SPS Volunteer Invitation. Send any questions my way.

Eagle Pack Volunteers Needed (and bags too)
The Eagle Pack program provides weekend food bags for any family that requests it. The University Food Bank provides the food items, and volunteers pack the bags and distribute them to classrooms every week. We need volunteers to help with picking up from the Food Bank on Thursday afternoons and packing on Friday mornings from about 8:00-9:00 am. If you are able to help during this timeframe, please sign up.
We would love to have some consistent volunteers, so if you can commit to one or more Fridays a month, that would be helpful. Approved volunteers can feel free to drop into the lunchroom any Friday, after drop off to lend a hand as well if you find yourself with some time.
We can always use plastic and paper shopping bags (the thicker, handled ones like from Target or a grocery store). If you have extras you can donate, please drop them off in the office.
