The Eagle – Week of April 01
The Eagle – Week of April 1
Letter from Principal Bean
Dear Families,
OV Musical “Imagine a Dragon” Performance: What an amazing performance. A huge shoutout goes to Director Jeremy Behrens, Musical Director Adam Quillian, and to Producer Sabrina O’Brien. I also wanted to thank Nancy Dautovich for designing the amazing set. And most importantly, I want to give a shout out to the 40 cast members. The level of composure and stage presence they gave was just mind boggling. There were scenes where there were about 20 kids on the stage and the dialogue was going back and forth between numerous actors and nobody missed a beat!
Class Picture and Personality Portraits: This Thursday, April 4 is class picture and personality portraits day. Personality portraits are optional. Order Pictures Online
Ms. Roosma Spirit Winner: Just recently the district sent out surveys to families looking for spirited teachers. During this process, a huge number of families gave a shout out to Ms. Roosma. This Wednesday, Rachel is going down to the district office to be recorded for the next version of “The First Bell”, the district’s monthly broadcast. We do not know when it will be aired, but we will make sure to let you know!
Report Cards: Will be available on the Source on April 8. Information about accessing the Source.
SBA Testing: Below are the dates for testing. Please try not to schedule appointments during this testing window if at all possible. Learn more about SBA testing

OVPTA seeks the future of PTA Leadership!!
We’re sad to see a lot of our current volunteers graduating soon – are you ready to step in and give back to OV by joining the PTA Board? We want to ensure that all your favorite OV activities continue on!
Volunteering on the PTA Board is a great way to get to know your OV community and be a part of making OV the amazing place we love so much!! Our Board meets monthly and is supportive and friendly!! We can usually arrange childcare so you can attend a meeting, and we usually offer a virtual meeting option, if you just can’t make it in person. We want to make it easy to be a part of the Board – so let us know what you need!
Please join us for a casual get-together on Wednesday, May 1st 6:30pm (at a local venue to be determined). Anyone who is considering a PTA Board position next year can come and hang out and ask questions of the current Board members. Look for flyers soon and info in upcoming Eagle newsletters.
We’re looking to fill the following Board positions: Co-President, Co-Treasurer, Co-Fundraising Director, Co-Activities Director, and Co-Enrichment Director.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Andrea and Chad at president@ovpta.org and we’re happy to chat!
What a fun run we had with “Imagine a Dragon”!
Thank you to all of our amazing parents and volunteers that helped us pull off such a magical weekend (and tech week too). A huge thank you to Magnuson Park Theater (Broadway Bound Childrens Theater) for allowing us the opportunity to rent the theater and give our young actors a chance to perform on a real stage. And lastly, a round of applause for all of our fans for cheering us on each night and supporting each of us over the past 4 months, especially last weekend. Our students worked incredibly hard to learn their roles, all of their lines, the songs and choreography. It was not an easy task, but if you came to the show, you certainly saw that they rose to the challenge and did an incredible job!

OVPTA Surplus Grants for 2023-2024!
The PTA Board decided that we can fund some surplus grants this year!
Do you have an idea that supports the OVPTA mission and goals, but you need funds to make it happen? The PTA has designated up to $20,000 to be spent on projects executed by our OV community members. That means YOU, our OV staff and our OV families, can submit a proposal for a project you’ll spearhead! In past years, these mini-grants have funded classroom books, equipment upgrades, outdoor projects, and end of year activities. We’ll be trying to prioritize projects that benefit the most OV students and have longevity, but don’t be afraid to submit a proposal for something outside-the-box! Does it make OV even more amazing than it already is? Let’s hear it! We’ll collect proposals, ask for PTA membership input, and the PTA Board will approve some (but not all) proposals each month until the end of the year, or we reach our spending limit. Find more details and fill out your proposal.
Don’t be intimidated by the proposal, it is just our process to get the information, it does not have to be a professional-looking grant! The PTA Board approved 2 surplus grants at our February Board Meeting.
Please email president@ovpta.org with questions or if you’d like to submit your proposal via paper form.
