The Eagle – Week of December 11
Letter from Principal Bean
Dear Families,
Busy Last Week: There is so much going on this last week of school before the break!
- School Virtue Assembly: On Monday morning, we have our monthly Virtue of a Changemaker Assembly. In December we are focusing on respect. Our third graders will be featured in this assembly.
- Spirit Day-Pajama Day: On Wednesday, all kids are encouraged to wear pajamas!
- Kindergarten Gingerbread Drama Project Performance: Our three kindergarten classrooms are creating and performing their own unique version of the classic “Gingerbread Man” story. They will perform on Friday, December 15 at 8:15 in the cafeteria.
- Winter Assembly: At the end of the day on Friday, we will have our traditional winter assembly. This is such a fun way to kick off the vacation.
Friday is Early Release: Students get out one hour early on Friday, so please pick them up at 1:25.
Report Cards: Report cards will be available on The Source, Monday December 18.
Holiday Basket Pickups: If your family is receiving a holiday basket, the pick-up window will be between 10:30-12:30 at the front entrance of the school next to the flagpole. Some families are having them delivered and have received communication from our counselor about the specifics.
Winter Break: Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 2.
3rd-5th Grade Field Trip to Winter Classic Skating Rink at T-Mobile Field: Due to the outstanding behavior of our students on their field trips to the Kraken Ice Skating Complex recently, the Kraken are generously paying for an amazing field trip for all our 3-5 students. Over the winter break, the Seattle Kraken are participating in the “Winter Classic,” a National Hockey League outdoor game on New Years Day. This year it will be held in Seattle at T-Mobile Park (where the Seattle Mariners play) and the rink is going to be left up for a week after the NHL game.
On Friday, January 5, the Kraken are funding 5 charter buses to come pick up the kids and take them to have a private skate on the rink. All kids will also get a free helmet.
In Partnership!

Ms. Roosma’s Corner
This month we shift into the attribute of Respect. We look at how we can think of Respect using the Eagle Way: I take care of myself, I take care of others and I take care of my school. If we think about respect in the sense of I admire myself…how can I respect myself? Well I get up, brush my teeth, get ready for school. Do you get where I am going with this? Many of our students are on film this week sharing what Respect is to them. Enjoy!
For a complete collection of Ms. Roosma’s Monday Morning Messages, check out her page on our Olympic View Website: Assistant Principal Rachel Roosma

Volunteer Opportunities
Library Volunteers Wanted
Calling all volunteers! We are looking for a few parents who would be willing to volunteer in the library. Volunteers will help pick up books from classrooms, check books in, and return books to their shelves. Occasional special project may also arise throughout the year and your help would be greatly appreciated.
Eagle Pack Volunteers Needed (and bags too)
The Eagle Pack program provides weekend food bags for any family that requests one. The University Food Bank provides the food items, and volunteers pack the bags and distribute them to classrooms every week. We need volunteers to help with packing on Friday mornings from about 8:00-9:00 am. If you are able to help during this timeframe, we would be grateful for your help!
We would love to have some consistent volunteers, so if you can commit to one or more Fridays a month, that would be helpful. Feel free to drop into the lunchroom any Friday after drop off to lend a hand as well if you find yourself with some time. Questions? Contact k.linnes@gmail.com
We also need plastic and paper shopping bags (the thicker, handled ones like from Target or a grocery store). If you have extras you can donate, please drop them off in the office.
