The Eagle – Week of June 3

The Eagle – Week of June 3

Letter from Principal Bean

Dear Families,

Field Day: What an amazing day Field Day was on Friday. The weather was perfect, and the kids had so much fun. Thank you, Mrs. Bruecher, for organizing such a wonderful event and thank you to all the volunteers who made it happen!

Volunteer Appreciation Assembly: As a way to say thank you, the OV staff is hosting our annual Volunteer Appreciation Assembly this Thursday at 8:10 in the cafeteria. After the assembly we will have a reception with yummy treats. If you have volunteered in any capacity, please come to the event so we can say thanks.

June Changemaker Virtue: In June we will be focusing on the theme of cooperation/teamwork. The following Monday (June 10) we will have our virtue assembly that will feature our 5th grade instrumental musicians and the choir.

3rd Grade Artist in Residency Experience: Sondra Segundo, PNW Indigenous Storyteller, Visual Art Teaching Artist collaborates with Geoff Larson (Director of Style with Bushwick Northwest) connecting music with literature. Each class explores a story written by Sondra, develops an original song, and learns to draw an animal in the traditional way of Sondra’s indigenous ancestors.

Field Trip Paperwork: We have so many field trips coming up in the next couple of weeks. If you haven’t done the paperwork, you won’t be able to volunteer. Please follow the link at the bottom of the Eagle.

Device Return: Computer devices will be collected on June 17th and June 18th. Please make sure to find all the chargers and cases, as well.

In Partnership!

Order Your 2023-2024 Olympic View Yearbook

It’s time to order your student’s 2023-2024 Olympic View Yearbook! The yearbook is a 60 page, full color snap shot of this incredible school year. Order yours online on the Olympic View PTA website  or via check (made out to “OVPTA”) or cash using the order form sent home with each student. Be sure to include your child’s name and teacher/room number on this form. We will distribute the books during the last week of school.

The OVPTA has questions! And YOU have the answers!!

Here are a few quick (we promise) surveys to let us know what you think. You’re always welcome to email president@ovpta.org, if you’ve got more to say.

  2. Which activities should the PTA continue next year? Let us know what can go and what should stay! Let us know what activities the PTA Should continue next year .
  3. Who deserves an award for outstanding volunteer this year? Submit your volunteer of the year nomination. The awards will be presented at the Volunteer Recognition Assembly on June 6 at 8:10 a.m.

Volunteer Opportunities

Library Volunteers Wanted

Calling all volunteers!  We are looking for a few parents who would be willing to volunteer in the library. Volunteers will help pick up books from classrooms, check books in, and return books to their shelves.  Occasional special project may also arise throughout the year and your help would be greatly appreciated.

Eagle Pack Volunteers Needed (and bags too)

The Eagle Pack program provides weekend food bags for any family that requests one. The University Food Bank provides the food items, and volunteers pack the bags and distribute them to classrooms every week. We need volunteers to help with packing on Friday mornings from about 8:00-9:00 am. If you are able to help during this timeframe, we would be grateful for your help!

We would love to have some consistent volunteers, so if you can commit to one or more Fridays a month, that would be helpful. Feel free to drop into the lunchroom any Friday after drop off to lend a hand as well if you find yourself with some time. Questions? Contact k.linnes@gmail.com

We also need plastic and paper shopping bags (the thicker, handled ones like from Target or a grocery store).  If you have extras you can donate, please drop them off in the office.
